This walking route starts at the birthplace of St Nicholas of Cusanus, from where you reach the medieval market square with its beautiful half-timbered houses. Continue in the direction of Kallenfelsstraße. Your fitness will be tested right at the start ... We walk through the forest uphill along the Kallenfelsbach stream, cross it to the left until you reach the meadows and "Maria Zill". From there you have a magnificent view over the Moselle valley above the village of Graach. Continue along the signposted paths in the direction of Zeltingen-Rachting. You descend through the famous "Zeltinger Himmelreich" vineyard, whose wine you can sample in the many wine taverns in the village. Cross the bridge to reach the Kloster Machern brewery, where a cold beer awaits you.
From Kloster Machern, you can now take the boat back to Bernkastel-Kues in comfort. Refreshments are also provided on board. The departure times from Kloster Machern back to Bernkastel-Kues are 10.55 a.m., 12.15 p.m., 2.25 p.m., 3.25 p.m., 5.25 p.m. (May, June on weekdays on request). The boat trip from Kloster Machern to Bernkastel-Kues takes 45 minutes.
